The RN Residency Navigator is responsible for coordinating and facilitating all aspects of the RN Residency Program to ensure a smooth transition to practice for new graduate nurses. The Navigator serves as the primary point of contact for residents, providing guidance, support, and resources throughout the first year of practice. This role works collaboratively with nurse leaders, preceptors, clinical educators, and interprofessional teams to ensure that the residency program is structured, evidence-based, and supportive of professional growth and retention. A Brief Overview
The RN Residency Navigator is responsible for coordinating and facilitating all aspects of the RN Residency Program to ensure a smooth transition to practice for new graduate nurses. The Navigator serves as the primary point of contact for residents, providing guidance, support, and resources throughout the first year of practice. This role works collaboratively with nurse leaders, preceptors, clinical educators, and interprofessional teams to ensure that the residency program is structured, evidence-based, and supportive of professional growth and retention. What you will do

  • Maintains proactive and supportive communication with RN residents from program acceptance through completion.
  • Supports educational development of pipeline for RN residents, including but not limited to nurse interns and RN apprentices.
  • Serves as a consistent resource and advocate for nurse residents, addressing questions, concerns, and barriers to success.
  • Tracks resident progression through program milestones, competencies, and evaluations.
  • Prepares and maintains residency progress reports that provide visibility into attendance, competency validation, engagement, and overall program status.
  • Coordinates scheduling of residency seminars, workshops, simulations, and other program activities.
  • Ensures all residency program requirements are met, including completion of regulatory, institutional, and specialty-specific competencies.
  • Collaborates with clinical service-line educators, preceptors, and nurse leaders to monitor resident performance and provide feedback and interventions as needed.
  • Supports new graduate nurses in professional development, resilience, and transition-to-practice strategies.
  • Collects and analyzes feedback from residents, preceptors, and leaders to inform ongoing improvements to the residency program.
  • Supports program compliance with ANCC PTAP standards and other accrediting/regulatory bodies as required.
  • Assists with data collection, reporting, and documentation needed for accreditation, Magnet designation, and organizational reporting.
  • Participates in recruitment, onboarding, and orientation activities to connect new graduates seamlessly into the residency program.
  • Performs other job functions as assigned or requested.


Education Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree Nursing required
  • Master's Degree Nursing
  • Master's Degree Education

Experience Qualifications

  • 1-3 years Clinical nursing Minimum of two (2) years of clinical nursing experience required
  • Previous work experience as a preceptor, clinical educator, or in nurse residency/transition-to-practice program support preferred

Skills and Abilities

  • Demonstrated ability to guide, support, and mentor new graduate nurses.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including active listening and coaching.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Forms).
  • Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and track details accurately.
  • Strong collaboration and team-building skills with the ability to work effectively across multiple units and service lines.
  • Knowledge of ANCC PTAP standards, evidence-based practice, and transition-to-practice models preferre
