Department Overview
Our Accounting Department keeps the official books and records of the company, publishes financial statements and compliance documents, and provides analyses and tools to company leaders to make the best business decisions. The department is made up of several groups who work together to complete all accounting functions including Loan Accounting, Accounts Payable, Payroll, Financial Reporting, Corporate Taxes, Special Initiatives, and Financial Reporting & Analysis.
The Impact You Will Have
This position will primarily support the day-to-day operations of the Research & Securities group (a registered broker-dealer), while performing other general accounting responsibilities in other business lines, including international entities.
Primary Responsibilities
- Process supplier invoices for payment and review and approve employee expense reports in our accounts payable system.
- Prepare and analyze monthly and annual financial statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with US GAAP and regulatory standards.
- Support the preparation of FOCUS Reports (Form X-17A-5), SIPC filings, and other required regulatory filings with FINRA and the SEC.
- Prepare schedules, workpapers, and documentation required for annual financial statement audit and periodic regulatory examinations.
- Maintain the general ledger and assist with monthly close process including the preparation of account reconciliations and financial statements of a registered-broker-dealer.
- Perform accounting activities related to the International Ventures, including revenue recognition, expenses and other monthly close entries.
- Reconcile and review assigned balance sheet accounts related international ventures, including accruals, compensation-related accounts, and research and record any required adjustments as necessary.
- Assist with implementation of new systems and processes, as needed.
- Assist the VP and other team members in identifying and implementing process improvements.
- Work with business partners to ensure the accuracy of revenue and expense transactions.
- Perform monthly close activities, including recording of journal entries, account reconciliations, analytical analysis, and variance review.
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure accounting processes and journal entries are performed correctly.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Attendance is generally required from 8:30 am – 5:30 pm local time, Tuesday through Thursday, with the option to work remotely on Mondays and Fridays.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.
- 2+ years of public accounting experience at a national or large regional accounting firm or related experience.
- Licensed CPA or individual working towards CPA licensing a plus.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Strong accounting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Proficiency with Oracle NetSuite or another general ledger systems is a plus.
- Flexible team player with the ability to adapt in a changing environment.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills - the individual speaks clearly and persuasively in all situations and demonstrates excellent spelling, grammar, and proof-reading abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines efficiently.
- Ability to show ownership of your work, take on challenges and acknowledge growth opportunities, and demonstrate patience when learning new processes.

This position has an estimated base salary of $75,000 - $85,000 plus a discretionary bonus. An employment offer is based on the applicant’s relevant work experience, applicable knowledge, skills, abilities, internal equity, and alignment with market data.
