Are you passionate about baseball and committed to shaping the next generation of athletes? The University of Maine at Farmington (UMF) is looking for an inspiring, driven Assistant Coach to join our Baseball team!

What You’ll Do:

  • Work hand-in-hand with the Head Coach to run practices, develop game strategies, and support daily team operations.
  • Mentor and motivate student-athletes—both on and off the field—to realize their full academic and athletic potential.
  • Assist in recruiting talented players and building lasting relationships with prospective students and their families.
  • Help organize games, travel, and logistics, ensuring everything runs smoothly from first pitch to final out.
  • Support individual player development through strength & conditioning sessions, skill drills, and constructive feedback.
  • Be a role model, foster sportsmanship, and ensure a safe, welcoming team culture.

The baseball season traditionally runs from January through May, with a non-traditional fall season from September through November. This is a part-time temporary position that will compensate up to $3,500. 


Essential Duties

  • Participates in games and practices, including organization and implementation of daily practices.
  • Coaches in competition and training.
  • Prepares film breakdown and analysis; presents analysis to team members.
  • Plans and prepares for games and training.
  • Assists in organizes team travel and meals.
  • Assists with scouting, recruitment, and strategy development.
  • Supports player and leadership development.
  • Contributes to strength and conditioning program, including one-on-one strength, and conditioning work with student athletes.
  • Provides support and encouragement to student athletes.
  • Recruits and retains talented athletes; builds relationships with prospective student athletes and their families through email, phone, and one-on-one meetings.
  • Understands NCAA and North Atlantic Conference (NAC) rules, compliance, and laws.
  • Ensures the safety and well-being of student athletes.
  • Serves as an effective role model for college-age students.
  • Assists with day-to-day operations of the Baseball program.
  • Provides effective communication to head coach.
  • Collaborates effectively with other Department of Athletics’ team members.
  • Attends and participates in department trainings.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Valid driver's license (in good standing, based on UMS standards)
  • Availability for practices and weekend competitive schedule
  • Experience with the skills of Baseball

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Collegiate competitive experience/coaching
  • Sports recruiting experience
