FINANCIAL ANALYST

Job Title: Financial Analyst
Reports To: FP&A Manager
FLSA Status: Exempt
Compensation: $80,000-$95,000 per year
Location: El Segundo, CA

Reporting to the FP&A Manager, the Financial Analyst will be a vital member of the Base Camp (support center) Finance team. You’ll partner across functions to bring data to life, drive insights, and support key decisions that help fuel our mission, scale our magic, and delight our guests.
Responsibilities:
• Deliver insightful reporting and financial analysis to support decision-making across the organization
• Own weekly/monthly reporting on sales, COGS, labor, and productivity metrics across our restaurants and Base Camp
• Assist in preparing budgets, forecasts, and long-range plans that reflect Mendo’s growth trajectory and operational excellence
• Support new store performance analysis and pro formas including competitor research, market benchmarking, and cannibalization modeling
• Partner with Operations and Development teams on capital expenditures, ROI analysis, and unit-level profitability
• Collaborate cross-functionally with Operations, Marketing, Development, and Real Estate teams to analyze business trends and support strategic initiatives
• Support revenue optimization strategies by providing pricing and promotional performance insights
• Build and evolve dynamic financial models for scenario planning, sensitivity analysis, and M&A activity
• Analyze large datasets from multiple sources to uncover trends, opportunities, and performance variances
• Continuously enhance and automate financial processes to scale with the business
• Embody a 'get better every day' mindset to continuously improve the quality of insights and deliverables
Requirements:
• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, or related field (MBA or advanced degree a plus)
• 3–5 years of progressive financial analysis experience (restaurant, retail, multi-unit or consumer-facing industry preferred)
• Strong financial modeling and Excel skills (experience with BI tools like Tableau or Power BI a plus)
• Proven ability to work with large data sets to deliver and communicate actionable insights
• Strategic problem-solver with high curiosity and a collaborative spirit
• Clear communicator - able to translate complex financial concepts to non-financial stakeholders
• Experience in investment banking or private equity is a bonus
