The Opportunity
The position of R&D Materials Planner is within our ARDx-ID Business Unit located in San Diego, California.
Develops, maintains, and controls detailed project forecasts (both short-term and long-term) across multiple R&D schedules by the development timeline. Analyzes capacity across project build and testing timelines. Serves as an interface between R&D labs, Manufacturing, RE Lab, and Labeling, as well as the main source of information regarding forecast and schedule changes on behalf of R&D development programs to Sr. Management. Facilitates and maintains the R&D timeline creation and planning process for all levels of management.
What You’ll Work On:
- Develops, maintains, and controls detailed project forecasts (12-mo rolling, monthly, weekly, and daily forecasts), balancing program milestones and technical development, analyzing capacity at all stages of the timeline, and communicating to all levels of management.
- The forecasts and build plans are specific to R&D as they reflect the multiple configurations of design of experiments as a result of integrating multiple components.
- Directs, leads, and executes key development studies by targeting resources for: Manufacturing.
- Communicates forecast and schedule changes for sub-assembly and finished good lines.
- Liaises with management of relevant departments to ensure test units are allocated appropriately.
- Communicates demand changes for the S&OP process - RE Lab.
- Communicates testing forecast. Prioritizes test requests by analyzing capacity to respond to program priority changes - R&D.
- Communicates forecasts for R&D pilot lines outside of production.
- Directs testing to R&D labs (analytical R&D, material characterization) for characterization and development testing.
- Leads timeline creation meetings across functional groups with all levels of management. Analyzes the potential impact of development milestones.
- Processes archive requests for engineering reports and project design history files.
- Owns and maintains project design history files to ensure consistency across programs.
- Understands business environment and relates extensive knowledge of internal and external activities to trends.
- Interfaces with a variety of management levels on significant matters, often requiring the coordination of activity across organizational units.
- Provides guidance to less-experienced staff.
- Exercises judgment independently.
- Initiates or maintains schedule for projects and project milestones. Plans and organizes project assignments of substantial variety and complexity.
- Establishes priorities of individual or project assignments.
- Selects methods and techniques to lead a project to completion.
- Erroneous decisions or recommendations would typically fail to achieve organizational objectives.
