AV Middleware delivers the critical messaging system used for on-car communication between software processes (IPC). Cruise middleware is used by all onboard AV software, and continues to evolve as vehicle hardware platforms do. This is an interdisciplinary role that will touch all aspects of the AV as well as vehicle backend and connectivity. 

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING:

• Write high-quality, performant, C++ code that runs on all of our autonomous vehicles.

• Build tools that deploy, execute, and monitor autonomous vehicle code in development and production workflows.

• Innovate on new cross-platform, cross-device IPC architectures

• Write and test code running across simulation and hardware vehicle platforms.

• Integrate new platform revisions and hardware configurations into the system.

• Collaborate with colleagues across multiple teams and mentor other developers.

• Design and present new capabilities to refine and build consensus. 

• Deliver sophisticated projects through incremental development.

WHAT YOU MUST HAVE:

• At least 6 years of hands-on experience in C++ (14, 17), STL and Python3.

• Experience working on IPC Middleware frameworks e.g. ROS, ROS2, Shared Memory.

• Comprehensive understanding of AV System incl. software systems, networks, sensors, data logging, and compute platform.

• Knowledge of Linux operating systems.

• Hands-on experience with defect tracking and forensics tooling.

• A high standard and commitment to quality by designing for maintainability, testability and efficiency.

The salary range for this position is $163,200 - $240,000. Compensation will vary depending on location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. You may also be offered a bonus, restricted stock units, and benefits. These ranges are subject to change.
