Location: Molesworth Street, Dublin 2 with Hybrid Working

 

This role is being offered on a permanent basis.

 

About the Role:

Climate Capital is one of the fastest growing areas of the Bank and focus on large scale lending to renewables and project finance which directly contribute to Ireland's and Europe's climate action goals.

 

The candidate will be expected to drive customer standards and service levels across the Climate Capital portfolio,  have a track record of managing high performance teams to deliver strong customer service levels, develop and maintain excellent customer relationships, to problem solve and be an escalation point for important customer issues.   On the risk and people side a key responsibility is to lead out on case management strategy, manage a team of portfolio managers, assess portfolio risk, ensure governance and assurance standards are to the highest level and ensure exceptional standards of risk management and risk culture across Climate Capital.

 

As a Climate Capital Director the candidate will be responsible for leading out and developing strategy across our activities and will also be an important member of the senior leadership team and you will have a close working relationship with the Capital Markets teams and Group supports, particularly Credit, Risk and Business Operations. 

 

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Manage an existing portfolio of credit exposures within the credit policy framework of the Bank, coordinating workstreams and allocating staff to ensure best in class portfolio and risk management.
  • Drive the continuous development of process improvement, portfolio insight and efficiency within the business.
  • You will be responsible for identifying market changes and future trends as the Climate Capital portfolio evolves, including market developments, changes to regulation and potential threats to the credit quality of the portfolio.
  • Build appropriate controls and procedures within the business.   Drive risk management culture and adherence to codes of conduct, law, and regulation. 
  • Lead high engagement levels across the unit.  Develop and motivate the team to consistently deliver results and build and implement a people strategy to attract, retain and develop people within the unit.  
  • Build and continuously refine a culture of customer and credit excellence. 
  • Engage directly, build, and develop relationships with stakeholders, both internal and external and represent the business and AIB in this highly visible and dynamic market.
  • You will be recognised in the market as an expert in energy, infrastructure and banking and will have regular interactions with CEOs, CFOs and Senior Partners in Legal, Advisory, Funds and Private Equity Houses.
  • Ensure compliance and administration obligations are satisfied to a high degree.
  • Collaborate with other parts of AIB including AIB UK, Treasury and Operations Teams.

 

What you will bring:

  1. Relevant 3rd level qualification. 10+ years' experience within a similar field and understanding of complex financial, legal and debt structures and practical examples of successfully structuring debt solutions.
  2. Strong experience in renewables such as wind and solar, as well as other infrastructure transactions.
  3. Strong financial analysis skills and proven experience of negotiating transaction documentation.
  4. Strong interpersonal skills and a mature network within the Irish energy and infrastructure markets and ability to broaden the Climate Capital network outside of Ireland.
  5. A track record of managing and developing professional services staff.
