This team builds SaaS products which support the peer-review process, not only for Elsevier, but for other publishers.
About the Role
You will partner across Technology, Product management groups to deliver clear functional and technical roadmaps for each product and service.
Responsibilities
- Collaborating to create clear product and service roadmaps in partnership with Tech and Product teams. Introduce industry best practices for software architecture, development, support, and quality engineering
- Leading the team to provide valuable solutions and solve customer problems. Resource the department effectively and oversee staff recruitment and development.
- Driving continuous improvement in quality processes and standards.
- Taking ownership of software development to meet user and commercial objectives. Monitor projects for efficiency and standards, using data for process improvements.
- Ensuring high-quality software, adhering to architecture guidelines and supportability in production.
Fostering collaboration with Operations for cloud-based applications using modern DevOps practices.
Requirements
- Experience in leading software engineering departments (20-50 people) in a listed or leading software organization. Deep understanding of technology, especially in a cloud environment
- Experience establishing and maturing modern agile development methodologies, processes, and tools.
Track record of working at executive levels in a large international organization. - Experience in managing globally dispersed teams and collaborating with international partners.
- Possess a financial acumen with budget management experience.
- Experience in establishing and maturing modern best-practice agile development methodologies, processes and tools (e.g. Scrum, Kanban, XP, test-driven-development, continuous integration, etc.).
Experience working at multiple levels within a large international organization and a proven track record of delivery.
