DUTIES:
Develop, present, and evaluate training curriculum in accordance with training plans, policies, and objectives. Manage a training class by providing feedback, follow-up and maintaining a professional atmosphere. Acquire and maintain required instructorships in firearms, self-defense/subject control, OC and CPR/AED/First Aid. Move training equipment and transport employees via state vehicle. While assigned to the Staff Training Academy, this position will work closely with all NDCS facilities as needed to provide training coverage.
Requirements / Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications: Two years’ experience and/or training in planning and presenting information and/or education to others through formal training, workshops, seminars, or other instructional venues including experience developing training programs or curriculum. Associates degree in education, human resources, organization communication, training and development or related field may be substituted for experience.
Preferred Qualifications: At least 3 years correctional experience; experience directing/leading staff in a correctional setting. Experience using Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint) and WebEx.
Other: Valid driver's license required. Must be able to legally possess a firearm and ammunition. Transcripts required at time of appointment. Applicants accepting a job offer must pass the following pre-employment exams in this order: medical exam, and at a randomly announced time, pass a drug test. Once at the Staff Training Academy, must successfully complete the fully paid NE Corrections Training Program.
Knowledge, skills & abilities:
Must be able to prioritize, be able to lift up to 30 lbs, work in a variety of environments. Ability to deal effectively with staff under stressful situations; effective oral and written communications skills.
