TMCC is the “jobs college” for Northern Nevada and our Division of Technical Sciences is, looking for a dynamic and enthusiastic Tenure Track Automotive/Diesel Instructor to join our team and help shape the future!
The mission of TMCC’s Division of Technical Science is to provide innovative industry-relevant training and upskilling for the diverse community we serve. We are seeking a candidate to teach dual credit courses in automotive and diesel to “accelerate” students’ achievement toward a college degree. The students are enrolled at both TMCC and ACE Charter High School, a five-star distinguished school, and take college courses at TMCC’s William N. Pennington Center of Applied Technology at 475 Edison Way. By the time students complete the program they have earned 42 college credits, 10 NC3 Certificates, two Automotive Service Excellence certificates and a Diesel Fleet Maintenance Certificate of Achievement! We are seeking applicants from all backgrounds and life experiences and looking for transferable skills sets that are applicable to this role. Minimum Qualifications
1. Three (3) years of employment in diesel/auto technology, or a comparable combination of education and work experience. Formal training/experience in the following areas:
a. Engines
b. Drive Train
c. Brakes
d. Suspension Steering
e. Electrical/Electronic Systems
f. Heating, Ventilation, A/C
Preferred Qualifications
1. ASE Certification as Master or equivalent training in Automotive or Medium/Heavy Truck.
2. Associates degree or higher from a regionally accredited institution In a Career-related field.
3. Six (6) years journeyman level employment in auto/diesel technology.
4. The equivalence of one (1) year of full-time secondary teaching experience in auto/diesel technology.
5. Understanding of career-technical education and programs.
6. Knowledge of the local and national job market requirements for a successful career in auto/diesel technology.
7. Obtain ASE within 6 months of hire.
Salary and Benefits Information:
Salary: Initial salary placement will be dependent on education level and years of experience. This position is a 9-month role, totaling 172 working days per year. Opportunities to teach up to 6 additional credits per semester may be available, depending on course offerings. The salaries listed below are based on this sched
