The Department/Team

The Asset Modeling and Consulting team within Life Technology Solutions (LTS) at Milliman delivers specialized support to both consulting and software development teams. This team provides advanced asset modeling insights, professional consulting services, and hands-on guidance in developing, testing, and refining Milliman’s Integrate software. By seamlessly blending technical expertise with strategic consulting, the Asset Modeling and Consulting team helps life insurance companies optimize their asset-liability management processes, streamline operational workflows, and enhance overall technological proficiency within the ever-changing insurance landscape.

Your Role/What You’ll Do                                             

The Senior Consultant – Financial Modeling & Market Data Integration develops and refines advanced asset models across fixed income, equities, real estate, and alternative investments, capturing the intricate ways different markets behave. Teaming up with clients, they create robust financial models that guide strategic decisions, clearly communicating their findings and recommendations. By blending external market data with internal systems, they ensure everything flows smoothly and data quality remains high. The Senior Consultant also dives deep into both historical and real-time data to build forecasts and stress tests, shedding light on potential risks and opportunities. Throughout it all, they keep tabs on evolving industry practices and regulatory requirements, ensuring their work stays on the cutting edge of compliance and innovation

Responsibilities:

  • Integrate market data from external sources into internal modeling and analysis platforms, ensuring seamless workflows and high data quality.
  • Develop, implement, and continuously refine advanced asset models—including fixed income, equities, real estate, and alternative investments—leveraging robust quantitative methods to capture complex market behavior.
  • Analyze large datasets of historical and real-time market data to build reliable projections and stress tests for different asset classes.
  • Assess, quantify, and communicate financial risks using advanced statistical techniques and data-driven models.
  • Assist with client projects to develop comprehensive financial models that inform strategic decisions.
  • Help develop and deliver insightful reports, presentations, and recommendations to clients, highlighting key quantitative findings and implications for risk and opportunity.
  • Stay up to date with industry best practices and regulatory changes to ensure compliance with evolving standards.
  • Support the development and refinement of in-house actuarial models, financial tools, and data integration pipelines.

Job Knowledge, Experience Skills

Job Knowledge Required:

  • Bachelor’s or Master's degree in Actuarial Science, Finance, Mathematics, or a related field. Advanced degrees and relevant certifications (e.g., ASA, CFA) are a plus.
  • 7-10 years of proven financial experience, with a demonstrated track record of quantitative analysis, asset modeling, and risk assessment in a financial services or consulting environment.
  • 2+ years of experience in a Managerial role preferred.
  • Proficiency in programming languages (e.g., R, Python) and modeling software (e.g., Excel, MATLAB), with experience integrating market data into these platforms or other software packages.

Experience and Soft Skills Required:

  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills with the ability to manage, interpret, and model large and complex datasets.
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills to convey sophisticated analyses to clients and team members.
  • A deep understanding of financial markets, asset classes, and investment strategies, including the application of quantitative techniques to evaluate market dynamics.

    Location

    Candidates hired into this role will be required to work in-person in the Milliman office in Chicago, IL on a weekly basis, but flexible work arrangements will be considered.
