Job Description:

   

Job Family Definition:

Designs, analyzes, develops, modifies and evaluates electrical/electronic parts, components, sub-systems, algorithms, or integrated circuitry for electrical/electronic equipment and other hardware systems. Conducts feasibility studies, design margin and validation analyses and empirical testing on new and modified designs. Assists in architecture development and assessment. Evaluates reliability of materials, properties, designs, and techniques used in production. May direct support personnel in the preparation of detailed design, design testing and prototype fabrication.

Responsibilities:

  • Establishes and defines organization-wide architectures and methodologies for electrical hardware design, with development across multiple platforms and organizations within the Global Business Unit, contributing to technology roadmaps.
  • Makes recommendations regarding new technologies, innovations, and outsourced development partner relationships for alignment with technology roadmap and business value; creates plans for integration and updates into the architecture.
  • Reviews and evaluates designs and project activities for compliance with technology and development guidelines and standards.
  • Drives the integration of valuable recommendations, updates, and innovations into the overall architecture and leads the platform architecture process across the business.
  • Leverages recognized domain expertise, business acumen, and experience to influence decisions of executive business leadership, outsourced development partners, and industry standard groups.
  • Takes a leadership role providing guidance and mentoring to less- experienced team members, setting an example of electrical hardware design, as well as development innovation and excellence.
  • Manages and leads multi-board designs involving multiple functions and project teams to drive the engineering development via a defined process.
  • Develops and directs development of schedules, critical deliverables, budget, resource allocation plan, and other support requirements for assigned programs.
  • Manages activities to support project teams and development partners; progress against plans using resource allocation to meet product requirements and schedules.
  • Communicates program progress, escalations, and issue analysis to product stakeholders; collaborates with internal manufacturing and development partners to produce processes to meet budgets, product roadmaps, and schedules.
  • Drives innovation and integration of new technologies and quality initiatives into projects and activities in the manufacturing and/or engineering organization.
  • Leads and provides guidance and mentoring to less-experienced team members.

Education and Experience Required:

  • Bachelor's or master’s degree in electrical engineering or equivalent
  • Typically 10+ years’ experience.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Knows how to use electrical design tools and software packages.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, ability to design for cost and innovate.
