As a Crisis Counselor funded by FEMA and SAMHSA, you’ll provide emotional support, education, and community outreach to individuals and groups impacted by disaster. You’ll connect people with local resources, deliver presentations on coping and recovery, and work closely with community partners to strengthen emotional well-being across the region. Key Responsibilities:
· Provide outreach, emotional support, education, and referrals to individuals, families, and groups affected by disaster
· Deliver engaging presentations on disaster reactions and healthy coping strategies
· Network with community partners, build relationships, and represent the CCP program at public events
· Collect data and participate in ongoing training to ensure service quality and program compliance
· Perform additional duties as assigned to support program needs
Education, Experience, and/or Credential Qualifications:
· High school diploma or GED required
· Disaster response experience preferred
Additional Qualifications:
· Must be 21 years or older
· Must have a current driver’s license, acceptable driving record, and current auto insurance
· Must successfully complete a background check including criminal record, driving record, abuse/neglect, and fingerprint check
· Must complete New Hire Orientation at the beginning of employment
· Must complete all required training at the beginning of employment and annually thereafter
Physical Requirements:
ADA Consideration - Sedentary work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally (up to 1/3 of the time) and/or a negligible amount of force frequently (1/3 to 2/3 of the time) to lift, carry, push, or pull objects. Involves repetitive hand, finger, and arm movements for typing and/or writing.
Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time but may involve brief periods of walking or standing. Jobs are considered sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.
