SALARY: $66,400 - 74,700

JOB RESPONSIBILTIES:
- Perform malting and analytical testing on breeding trials from global breeding programs and industry evaluation trials, ensuring accurate and timely results.
- Identify outliers and trends in laboratory data, facilitate root cause analysis, and ensure the integrity and reliability of reported results.
- Monitor laboratory equipment for in-process issues, troubleshoot and resolve equipment malfunctions, and perform routine maintenance to ensure optimal operation.
- Maintain sample and data integrity, manage laboratory inventories, and order supplies as needed to support ongoing operations.
- Operate a forklift to manage warehouse inventories, ensuring efficient storage and retrieval of samples and supplies.
- Implement and maintain daily, weekly, and monthly cleaning protocols to ensure a safe, organized, and compliant laboratory environment.
- Drive innovation by developing and testing new methods for chemical analysis and improving existing laboratory processes.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in a science-related field (e.g., Chemistry, Microbiology, Biology, Food Science).
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in a chemistry-related laboratory.
- Practical experience with gas chromatography (GC) and mechanical troubleshooting.
- Familiarity with laboratory scales and pipetting techniques.
- Proficient in data entry with strong experience in Excel, PowerPoint and Microsoft office suite.
- Experience with, SQL, PowerBI, Python, DataBricks and R is a plus.
- Malting and brewing knowledge is a plus.
- Physical requirement of lifting 50 lbs.

- This position may require occasional overtime, weekend and holiday work to meet project deadlines.
- The successful candidate will demonstrate a proactive approach to problem-solving and a commitment to continuous improvement.
- The candidate will need to demonstrate their ability to adhere to all laboratory safety protocols and regulatory requirements, ensuring a safe working environment for all staff.
- The candidate will need to demonstrate the ability to work with cross-functional teams to support company goals and continuous improvement initiatives.
- The candidate will need to demonstrate a high level of accuracy and thoroughness in all laboratory analyses, data entry, and documentation. Carefully follow protocols and procedures to ensure reliable results and maintain data integrity. Proactively identify inconsistencies or errors, taking corrective action to uphold the highest standards of quality in all aspects of laboratory work.
- The candidate must be willing and able to take forklift training.
- Review, update, and create Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and other management documents to support laboratory operations.
- Apply basic statistical knowledge to facilitate data analysis and support process innovation.
