Internship Overview:
Are you a news enthusiast with a passion for storytelling and a keen interest in staying up-to-date with current events? If so, we want you on our team at TNWD! As a News Department Intern, you will have the chance to contribute to the creation of compelling news stories, assist in research, conduct interviews, and witness the behind-the-scenes workings of a newsroom.
Responsibilities:- No day is the same. If you excel in an active, fast-moving environment and have the drive to learn the many different areas of News production, this position is perfect for you
- You will work with reporters, anchors, producers, editors, and photographers, in-house and out in the field
- You will receive training on various topics including how to produce a news segment from the control room, how to research and pitch a great story, how to operate camera equipment, what shots matter, and more
Qualifications:
- Must be currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate degree program or be considered a recent graduate
- Must be at least in your sophomore year of an accredited college/university
- Must be a U.S. citizen or eligible to work in the U.S.
- Willing to work approximately 15 hours a week for 10 weeks, beginning in June 2025 or sooner **There may be a variety in hours due to our news programming schedules**
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Must have reliable transportation and be able to work from our Arlington, VA location. This internship is paid and is located at The National Weather Desk (TNWD).
