The Center for Childhood Liver Diseases in the Division of Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition is seeking a motivated full time Clinical Research Assistant (RA) to help with a variety of liver research studies in children and adolescents. The position involves significant patient contact, including obtaining informed consent from research participants and frequent contact with other departments in the hospital and outside organizations. The RA will be working on both clinical trials and division studies pertaining to a variety of liver diseases such as biliary atresia, fatty liver disease, Alagille syndrome, portal hypertension, liver transplant and acute liver failure. The RA will also be trained to perform transient elastography (a non-invasive ultrasound procedure to measure liver fibrosis and spleen stiffness) for several investigational device studies.

This Clinical Research Assistant will be responsible for:

  • The coordination of preparation activities and the daily operations of clinical research studies
  • Screening, consenting, recruitment, and selection of patients for studies, and for the collection of data and the management of databases
  • Preparing IRB and Sponsor Regulatory documentation and submissions in conjunction with Principal Investigators and the Liver Team
  • Conducting data collection activities and prepares analytical reports regarding results of studies

To qualify, you must have:
  • Strong organizational skills and be a detail-oriented individual
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • The ability to work independently, efficiently, and have exceptional interpersonal skills, as interaction with patients, families, and medical staff is necessary
  • A bachelor’s degree is required. Degree including coursework in biological sciences, some research experience, and good computer skills, along with prior knowledge of statistics, data entry software, electronic medical records and Excel is encouraged

Start date is expected in early June 2025 but could be flexible for the right candidate.
