Job Description

The EHS Regional EHS Lead works with the Safety, Health, Security and Training Lead, Environmental & ESG Lead Global Management Systems Lead and site EHS practitioners within a designated region. 

The primary purposes of the position are:

(i) to provide leadership, professional knowledge and technical expertise in the administration and support around regulatory compliance, and program implementation within their area,

(ii) to interact and influence Regional General Managers and site Leaders to create and sustain Chromalloy’s culture of safety excellence and

(iii) to develop effective implementation strategies along with detailed implementation plans and timelines for their area of responsibility, and (iv) to guide corporate EHS-related objectives and supporting execution of EHS-related initiatives.

Primary Accountabilities:

  • Acts as the lead EHS technical expert and advocate for continuous improvement of EHS performance within their assigned region in concert with regional general managers and employees to promote a safe, productive, sustainable, and environmentally sound work culture through the application of continuous improvement, best practices, and personal accountability
  • Oversees EHS consultants and contractors hired to perform EHS services such as industrial hygiene monitoring, ventilation systems assessments, etc.  Assures that consultants follow regulatory and company requirements. Analyzes and interprets data and reports and makes recommendations.
  • Collaborate with operational management, develop strategies and provide oversight and/or assist operational personnel in the performance of various types of assessments (i.e., job task risk assessments, PPE assessments, Job exposure profiles, raw material introduction, etc.)  Monitor implementation of actions to address improvement opportunities of the EHS management system.
  • Oversee implementation of the Company’s EHS management systems strategy within the region, coordinating with the Safety, Health and Training Lead, environmental & ESG Lead, and the High-Risk Programs and Compliance Lead. 
  • Leads the regional EHS team. Engages in the role of “player/coach” performing as a site EHS Lead as well as directing work in their region.  Supervises, coaches, and mentors the professional development of regional EHS staff. 

 

 

Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in technical discipline: Safety & Health, Industrial Hygiene, Occupational Health, Toxicology, Chemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Environment, Chemistry, Biology, or science-related field.
  • Professional certifications (CSP, CIH, CIT, CHMM, NEBOSH,) preferred
  • 10-15 years in progressive EHS roles with a strong focus on safety and health required. 
  • At least 5 years of working in a manufacturing environment as a safety professional is preferred.
  • Strong background in and knowledge of USA federal, state, and local EHS requirements and industry standards/best practices. Mexico, Holland, EU, and Thai knowledge is a plus.
  •  Must be successful in managing in a team-oriented environment and be able to work effectively in a matrix organization. 
  • Fluent in English; Spanish, Thai, or Dutch a plus.
