Pay Range: The expected base pay for the position is $25-$37 per hour, based upon experience, and may be increased due to other factors, such as language, certifications, etc.
Primary Function:
The WIC Program Nutritionist provides nutrition services and benefits to WIC participants under the supervision of the Senior Nutritionist.
Duties & Responsibilities:
• Evaluate participants’ needs.
• Assess, counsel, and provide nutrition education to WIC participants.
• Provide breastfeeding support and resources to pregnant and breastfeeding mothers.
• Assist in the development of educational materials and activities.
• Facilitate group nutrition education activities.
• Schedule appointments, make reminder phone calls and answer participant questions.
• Reliable transportation and availability to work at all WIC sites in Dorchester, Mattapan and Hyde Park.
• Assist in training WIC staff, agency staff, providers and other agencies on nutrition or WIC topics.
• Collaborate with healthcare providers and other agencies to coordinate and increase quality of care.
• Participate in quality assurance activities.
• Perform other duties as required by the position or as assigned by supervisor.

QualificationsMinimum Basic Knowledge:
Bachelors of Science in Nutrition (a LDN or RD preferred).
Experience & Qualifications:
• A self-starter and ability to show leadership.
• Excellent communication skills and sensitivity to participant needs.
• Proficiency in data entry and typing.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks in an organized manner.
• Proficiency in Portuguese, Spanish or French Creole language, strongly preferred.
• One (1) year of experience in clinical/community nutrition, preferred
