About The Team:
We’re a small but highly efficient, effective, and compassionate People team. We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Sr HR Generalist to join our team. You will report directly to our Head of People and you will play a crucial role in managing various human resources functions within our organization. Your responsibilities will encompass a wide range of HR activities, including onboarding, systems, benefits, employee relations, performance management & training, policy development, and compliance. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure the smooth functioning of HR operations and contribute to the overall success of our organization.
This role requires that you generally be present in our San Mateo HQ at least 1 day a week (generally Thursdays), and whenever a new hire starts onsite, or there are team events in the office.
What You'll Do:
- Perform routine tasks required to run HR programs including, but not limited to, compensation, benefits, and leave; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management and development; productivity and morale; and occupational health and safety
- Handle employment-related inquiries from employees, new hires who have yet to start, and former employees
- Run our HRIS (Rippling), knowing it inside and out, maintaining accurate employee records, generating HR reports, and troubleshooting/addressing questions as needed
- Run performance review cycles and employee recognition programs
- Review, track, and document compliance with mandatory (and non-mandatory) trainings
- Review policies and make recommendations to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations
- Conduct values interviews in the hiring process
- Run employee onboarding and offboarding programs
- Proactively stay on top of trends, best practices, new tech, and regulatory changes in HR, talent management, and employment law
- Embrace a startup mentality and performs other duties as needed
What You'll Bring:
- 5+ years proven experience working as an HR Generalist or in a similar HR role
- Strong knowledge of HR practices, ideally coupled with knowledge of employment laws and regulations – if you don’t have experience with all these areas, then the ability to learn quickly and adapt
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to maintain confidentiality, handle sensitive information with discretion, and put the needs of the company first
- Demonstrated problem-solving and conflict resolution abilities, even in high stress situations
- Exceptional organizational and time management skills
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Ideally, proficiency in HRIS and other HR software applications - but more importantly, the ability to autonomously learn systems qu
