OVERVIEW:

 

The Associate Medical Director of the Emory Healthcare Capacity Command Center (CCC) is responsible for engaging in the building and implementation of Command Center initiatives as determined by the Medical Director of the Command Center. This role reports directly to the CCC Medical Director.

 

This role will support strategic initiatives, process development, implementation, and education around systemwide patient care programs in conjunction with existing Command Center functions (including patient placement, patient transport, patient flow coordination and other services as the Capacity Command Center expands over time).

 

  • This role is responsible for leading identified projects and process improvement initiatives to drive the overarching Command Center strategy for Emory Healthcare as assigned by the Medical Director.
  • This individual will be charged with collaborating with stakeholders across the system to develop operational processes and practices to further the effectiveness and efficiency of the Command Center.
  • The right person for this position will, along with other CCC leaders, support the collaborative environment of the Command Center through identifying opportunities for improved communication, process development, and practice change across the different realms of the Center.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities (duties listed are completed in conjunction with the operational and clinical leaders within the Capacity Command Center)

  • Working directly with the SVP and Medical Director of the CCC to implement initiatives that expand and enhance the CCC for patient management across all EHC operating units
  • Working directly with the SVP and Medical Director of the CCC to implement plans that enhance capacity management and improve clinical operational efficiency within EHC operating units
  • Partake in the planning and implementation of processes for systemwide hospital transfers, bed utilization, and efficient patient management which closely align and support the changing needs of EHC operating units
  • Utilize goal-driven measures of success and key performance indicators (KPI) for patient placement, patient flow, patient transport to measure system impact of implemented projects and programs.
  • Support and engage in positive team dynamics to achieve a satisfied and competent staff by establishing a climate for growth and challenge and developing/mentoring management and staff
  • Provide leadership and guidance for the Medical Officer of the Day (MOD) program and the providers acting as the daily MOD
  • Represent Emory Healthcare and the Capacity Command Center to emergency medical service (EMS) partners at relevant industry forums, speaking engagements, education sessions, and collaborative initiatives.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Board certified physician with at least 3 years of clinical experience
  • Board certification or eligibility in EMS and Disaster Medicine

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • At least 3 years of clinical experience Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required
  • Knowledge of the industry, organizational strategies, and operational objectives
  • Skilled in team building, team participation, and achieving organizational success 
  • Strategic thinker, insightful decision maker
  • Ability to analyze and solve problems
