Job Summary
Avantor Fluid Handling seeks a Technical Project Manager (TPM) to join our Engineering New Product Development Team. This role is a full-time, onsite, minimum of three days-a-week position located at our Barrington Illinois facility.The Technical Project Manager is responsible for leading cross-functional teams in the development and productization of Avantor/Masterflex branded pumps, sensors, and single-use assemblies targeted for biopharma customers. Following the Avantor Fluid Handling Phase-Gate Development Process, the TPM ensures new products are developed on time, within cost targets, and per specification.

What we’re looking for
Education: Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or Applied Physics from an ABET (Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology) accredited university
Experience:
1-3 years hands-on design and development experience in one of the following technical disciplines: Biomedical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Applied Physics, or Mechatronics
Knowledge of Microsoft Project software (or willingness to learn)
Process a “system” view and overall business curiosity
Ability to lead by influencing and aligning internal and external resources
Familiarity with high-volume mechanical and electrical production fabrication processes
Familiarity with project management tools and techniques: managing to critical path; proactive risk management and mitigation; capacity planning; GANTT; RACI; Agile SW development
Collaboration Tools: Microsoft Teams
Preferred Qualifications:
Plus: Experience with electro-mechanical product regulatory and compliance requirements (FCC, U/L, CE, etc.)
Plus: previous experience as a Technical Project Manager
Plus: prior experience developing medium/high volume embedded electro-mechanical products
Plus: Prior experience developing products following a cross-functional phase-gate process.
Plus: PMP certification
Plus: Experience with sensors/sensing systems and wired/wireless/industrial connectivity.

Lead cross-functional teams in developing high quality new products in support of pump, sensor, and single-use assembly product roadmaps.
Manage multiple technical programs - feasibility through product launch.
Provide high-level project status update presentations suitable for executive management.
Lead by example - aligning and influencing key program stakeholders to achieve program objectives.
Practice and promote proactive risk discovery and mitigation.
Preserve/Reinforce Avantor/Masterflex brand, quality, and reputation during all stages of development.
Contribute to the technology roadmap… ensure that new features under investigation track with product development roadmaps.
Investigate opportunities to improve product the development process.
