About the role

The Hydrogen Isotope Science Group at Savannah River National Laboratory is seeking a Senior Electrochemical Scientist with a Ph.D. to join the team. The selected candidate will help drive innovation in isotope separation technologies, assist mentoring early career staff, and successfully lead research from fundamental studies through applied science. 

  • Lead and conduct research in electrochemistry, with focus on isotope separations using electrochemical methods.
  • Develop and advance the readiness of electrochemical methods for the separation and purification of isotopes relevant to national security.
  • Mentor early career staff.
  • Collaborate internally and externally to advance separation technologies.
  • Disseminate research results in the technical community through technical reports and peer reviewed publications, as applicable.
  • Conduct research activities safely and within proposed budgets.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • PhD in electrochemistry or related field and a minimum of 10 years of experience
  • Demonstrated expertise in electrochemistry, synthetic chemistry, materials science, etc.
  • Demonstrated expertise in electrochemical methods and characterization techniques.
  • Strong publication record
  • Nationally recognized expert in electrochemical methods.
  • Works safely with particular attention to quality. 
  • Complies with all policies and standards. 
  • Ability to obtain and hold a Q security clearance for which U.S. citizenship is legally required.
