About the role

Position Summary

As a Software Engineer, you will be part of an Agile Scrum team and directly contribute to the creation and maintenance of products that support our business operations. You will participate in Sprint activities, such as planning, grooming and daily standups to deliver on commitments, continuously improve process and drive positive change.

You will apply your skills in Software Development to help the team produce quality, on-time deliverables and apply root cause analysis to track down story bugs and production issues. Using an eye for quality and an attention to detail, you will help us build reliable and fault tolerant, extensible applications backed by unit testing and test automation. Additionally, you will work directly with Team Leads, Business Users, Product Owners, Functional Analysts and other Engineers to build new projects and support existing applications.

The ideal candidate is self-motivated and able to multi-task moderately complex issues on their own and when assistance is required, able to provide specific issues and options. This role requires a robust breadth of Software Development concepts allowing you to create scalable, extensible applications with minimal direction. Also necessary is interfacing with existing applications built on REST, an understanding of security implications for designs and implementations and the ability to adapt to a fast paced, changing environment.

About The Team

The Software Engineer within Corporate & Enterprise Services (CES) is an individual contributor responsible for designing, building, modernizing, and supporting enterprise-grade applications and integrations that power Clayton’s core business operations. Within the Enterprise Content Management (ECM) domain, this role helps evolve Clayton’s document and workflow ecosystem, including Hyland OnBase and related enterprise systems that support document storage, automation, and business process workflows.

Engineers on this team work across a diverse technology landscape that includes modern .NET development (C# / .NET Framework through modern .NET), REST-based integrations, cloud-native services, and enterprise SaaS platforms. Our engineers regularly design and implement scalable services, event-driven integrations, and automation capabilities that connect Clayton’s critical systems across Finance, HR, Legal, Loan Originations, Servicing, and other enterprise functions.

The team is also actively engaged in modernizing and evolving established platforms and technology stacks. Success in this role requires curiosity, strong engineering fundamentals, and demonstrated aptitude for learning and improving existing systems while incrementally introducing modern architecture patterns and best practices.

Our engineers collaborate closely with Product Owners, Architects, ERP teams, Security, and other CES engineering teams to deliver reliable, well-designed solutions. Technical experience includes C# and .NET development, cloud engineering (AWS), infrastructure as code, and solid object-oriented design principles such as SOLID.

CES is a collaborative and diverse engineering organization that supports a wide range of mission-critical platforms spanning the Clayton enterprise. We partner with business stakeholders across Legal, Accounting, HR, Loan Originations and Servicing, Communications, Internal Audit, and more. Our teams support a mix of SaaS platforms (such as Workday and OnBase), cloud-native services, and custom-developed applications both on-premises and in the cloud.

We value engineers who are curious, collaborative, and motivated to continuously improve the systems they support. CES invests in the growth and development of our engineers while fostering a team culture that values work-life balance, shared success, and continuous learning.
