Temporary Laboratory Assistant (Nights)

As a temporary Laboratory Assistant at IDEXX, you will be assisting with some of the many tasks vital to the running of our network of Reference Labs. We receive thousands of clinical samples (blood, urine, fecal samples) every day from Veterinary Clinics, and we run tests on those samples to help veterinarians identify what might be wrong with someone's pet.   In this role, you will be helping to sort, tag, and prepare veterinary samples for testing.  Every sample you help to move along quickly and accurately in the process means we are one step closer to finding out how or why the pet might be sick.  Thanks to you, someone's very beloved pet will get the treatment plan they need - how great is that?

In This Role:  

• Currently, our greatest need is in several departments across the lab: Patient Sample Management (specimen processing or specimen accessioning), hematology, serology/immunology. and chemistry.

• You might be unbagging, sorting, tagging, or moving clinical samples around the laboratory.

• You could be helping to load analyzers with slides of samples. 

• You may be restocking supplies, such as chemicals or slide trays.   

• You might be assisting with inventory counts.   

• You will be responsible for following SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures).

• You can expect to work in one or more of the following departments:  

  • Chemistry/Endocrinology

  • Patient Sample Management

• You will be asked to help in out many ways – and your help is needed! Your nightly tasks positively impact the lives of pets.

Pay & Schedule:  

• Hourly rates targeting: $23.00

• This is a temporary, full-time (40hr/wk), position with scheduled shifts Monday - Friday 11:00 pm - 7:30 am.

• Weekend shifts are required. There is an alternating Saturday and/or Sunday shift with a scheduled day off in the week for working the weekend shift

• Sometimes during our busy season, we may ask employees if they would be able to work overtime and stay until the work is complete. 

• The shifts and hours may vary slightly depending on business needs. 

• Reliable and dependable attendance is an essential function of the position.
