Our engineering department, the Bureau of Technology
Representing a third of our overall team, the Bureau of Technology is structured around concepts introduced by the foundational “Spotify model”: Squads, Tribes, and Chapters.
Spread across 5 tribes, the ~20 Product squads are the cross-functional, autonomous teams building and operating services to deliver value to customers and suppliers. They are grouped in tribes addressing a common theme. These Product squads are supported by the ~10 Platform squads, which address the cross-cutting challenges, as well as the CyberSecurity team.

What we’re looking for
BackMarket is looking for Engineering Leaders who will help drive our development team. The core competencies of this role include mentoring and coaching of people, cultivating a collaborative team, leading delivery, production operations, and continuous improvement. You will be working in an agile "build it and run it" environment where engineering teams build, launch, monitor and support the product they own.
About the team
The Checkout team is part of the Customer Journey Tribe that is in charge of the experience of customers searching and buying devices on our platform. The Checkout team currently has two different scopes : - Help the user to visualize the items in their shopping cart and finishing the purchase; - Prepare and offer to the user the possibility to add a protection plan to the devices bought in our platform. Because of this, we are on the critical path to bring revenue to the company and can have a significant impact. Some of our challenges are to extract the current logic in a service oriented architecture, improve the quality of our services, communicate with other teams related to functionalities shown during the checkout process, improve the user experience, implement new ways of bringing those services to the user in a non-invasive way. It is a very interesting and dynamic part of the project, we have lots of opportunities to collaborate and make an impact across different departments and have broader knowledge on how Back Market works.

What you'll be doing
- Leading a collaborative team in delivering great software that our customers will love!
- Collaborating with the product group and other tribes to align the team with company objectives and initiatives across engineering and the wider business
- Ensuring the development of people and teams through ongoing coaching and mentoring
- Creating a team environment where team members feel like they belong and are supported do their best work
- Establishing open communication and a culture of feedback between team members
- Working with the team to identify and make improvements in our processes, practices and product
- Supporting teams in increasing the delivery proficiency by creating a learning environment
What you'll bring to the team
- Experience and passion for growing, developing and guiding people
- Openness to receiving and giving feedback in a safe workplace
- Interest in working in an environment where leaders support their teams to do great work, through removing impediments, finding improvements, and facilitating effective decision making
- Enthusiasm about reaching new levels of effectiveness (and quality!)

- Good verbal and written communication skills in English

- Experience working in agile development teams
