About the role:

The primary purpose of this position is to supervise and coordinate all sample receiving, login, and handling activities to ensure the accurate, timely, and compliant processing of client samples while providing leadership and support to Sample Receiving Technicians Bottle Prep Technicians, and related personnel.

About you:

  • Supervise daily activities of Sample Receiving Technicians and Bottle Prep Technicians and ensure efficient workflow within the sample management department.
  • Monitor sample intake operations to verify proper receipt, inspection, login, storage, and disposal of samples.
  • Ensure accurate and timely entry of sample information into the laboratory LIMS system.
  • Review and resolve discrepancies related to chain of custody documentation, sample integrity, temperatures, preservatives, and container requirements.
  • Coordinate workload distribution and staffing schedules to meet operational demands and turnaround times.
  • Train, mentor, and develop team members.
  • Ensure compliance with SOPs and quality requirements.

Required Qualifications:

  • Desire to work in an administrative position in a laboratory setting.
  • Detail oriented – able to accurately interpret and transcribe information from a client chain of custody into the laboratory computer system.
  • Good typing / data entry skills.
  • Familiarity with chemical symbols and general scientific terminology.
  • Have a demonstrated ability to communicate well in English, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to multi-task and work as part of a team.
  • Proven ability to learn new concepts quickly.
  • Basic knowledge of EPA methodologies
  • High School Diploma / GED required, B.S. in Chemistry or related field preferred.
  • Minimum 3 years relevant laboratory operations experience.
  • Leadership experience preferred.

Physical Demands:

  • The ability to stand for intervals of up to 8 hours while working.
  • Able to speak and hear clearly while communicating with co-workers and managers.
  • Able to lift up to 50 lbs. on a consistent basis (may request and use a dolly for situations requiring heavy loads).
  • Dexterity in hands and fingers to operate equipment and handle glassware.
  • Must have average vision and able to see to read reports and operate equipment.
  • Hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone.
