About the role

Description

Under the direction f the Bakery Supervisor, the Bakery lead will oversee and supervise staff in production and operations and prepare and oversee the production of a wide variety of fresh, high quality and consistent bakery offerings.  

  

Wage Range: $19.00-$26.00 per hour

AM & PM shifts available

Fulltime 32-40 hours per week

Leadership


Under the direction of the Bakery Supervisor, oversee and supervise staff in bread and related production and operations

Emphasize customer service and experience and maintain a safe and efficient kitchen

Answer questions and provide support to staff

Provide clear and concise communication and direction for daily tasks

Ensure that communications are clear, direct and respectful

Participate in training and ongoing development of departmental staff, providing in-the-moment corrections, feedback and coaching as needed

Monitor the daily flow to ensure productivity and efficiency, adjust when required, and communicate observations and need to the Bakery Supervisor

Under the direction of the Baker Supervisor address any equipment, customer service, safety, or personnel issues as they arise, and effectively communicate these issues promptly to the Bakery Supervisor

Uphold departmental standards and guidelines based on departmental desired outcomes as established by the Bakery Supervisor and the Bakery Manager

Attend and participate in all departmental meetings and trainings, and in storewide meetings and trainings when appropriate, or directed by the Bakery Supervisor

Model the Co-ops customer service approach and ensure professional and friendly service 

Treat everyone with tolerance, consistency and fairness

Other tasks as assigned


Food Production


Prepare bakery items per menu planning and established recipes

Maintain a fully stocked department 

Maintain efficiently run stations to serve customers in a timely and sanitary manner

Create and provide clear and precise production lists on daily/weekly needs, and delegate tasks accordingly

Maintain accurate and up to date recipes

Ensure quality control and food safety of all items prepared and offered

Ensure items are ready and available on time as defined in the departmental standards

Under the direction of the Bakery Supervisor, participate in menu planning and recipe creation process to provide consistent regular items and interesting new items, while considering special dietary needs such as vegetarian, vegan, and food allergens such as gluten free or nut free

Assist with special orders and other prompt, friendly, courteous customer service  


Department Maintenance/Operations


Ensure that monitoring protocols are followed to ensure safe handling and product quality

Monitor and ensure product rotation, labeling, dating, and storage practices are accurately followed to maintain product quality and safety

Ensure that department areas (aisles, shelves, bins, and storage areas) are in clean, orderly condition, meeting co-op department standards, and that all service items including napkins, utensils, to-go boxes, dishes, etc. are available to customers at all times

Maintain efficient, sanitary, and organized work stations

Participate in, and help direct daily, weekly and monthly cleaning tasks, including dish washing, sweeping, mopping, sanitizing, etc. 

Ensure accurate signage is present and visible for all items served and/or packaged, including the ingredients, potential allergens/dietary information, and price when appropriate

Participate in quarterly inventory counts

Participate in the review of departmental reports evaluation performance against desired outcomes adjusting where necessary to improve results as directed by the Bakery Supervisor

Monitor the safe and proper use of equipment by all deli staff

Notify the Bakery Supervisor of equipment problems or needs

Under the direction of the Baker Supervisor, maintain control of departmental labor and ensure staff schedules are adhered to as published

Enforce department procedures and standards to ensure safe food handling and preparation

Clearly communicate any information, ideas, problems, or needs with the Bakery Supervisor and other departmental leads


Qualifications and Skills


Experienced in a professional kitchen environment

Maintain current food handler card

Ability to supervise and direct others

Effective time management and prioritization of tasks

Well organized with an attention to detail

Good communication skills and ability to give clear instructions
