About the role

Description

Mission of Department:  

To maintain facilities in a clean orderly, safe and attractive condition. To ensure a suitable environment of effective patient care, associate working conditions, and guest satisfaction.


Purpose of Position: 

Responsible for helping with overall technical and cleanliness operation of facility. To maintain a clean, sanitary, orderly and attractive condition of the facilities to ensure a suitable environment for effective patient care, associate working conditions, and guest satisfaction.


Essential Functions: 

  • Ability to float between jobs and fill in where needed.
  • Ensures staff trained in positions responsibility.
  • Prepare work schedule.
  • Orders and inventories Environmental Service supplies.
  • Coordination of daily linen supplies.
  • Help with maintenance, repair and operation of all physical elements of hospital and allied properties.
  • Ability to interact with patients regarding cleanliness of the rooms and deal with conflicts with patient satisfaction.
  • Ability to check cleanliness of rooms and paper work is filled out properly.
  • Able to operate computer to order items or make forms as specified by Facility Supervisor.
  • Able to read, speak and understand English clearly.


Requirements

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Reports to Senior Director of Facilities.
  • Able to do any additional responsibility specified by Senior Director.
  • Attends inter-departmental and Environmental Service meetings out of building.
  • Able to take on call duty
  • Education, Qualifications, Experience:
  • High school diploma preferred.
  • Ability to plan, organize, delegate, and evaluate people and outcomes.
  • Ability to assume overall responsibility for maintaining and cleaning of facility in the absence of Facility Supervisor.
  • Must have good observation and communicating skills.
  • Ability to plan, organize, delegate, communicate and evaluate people and outcomes.
  • Knowledge of general housekeeping principles.
  • Must have good people skills.


Personal Characteristics:

Verbal ability is required to communicate with staff and patients.

Keep informed of new developments. 

Good personal hygiene, neat appearance.

Caring, empathetic, compassionate attitude.

Must be dependable


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Ability to plan, organize, delegate, and evaluate people and outcomes.

Ability to assume overall responsibility of Maintenance and Environmental Services in absence of Senior Director. 

Ability to make emergency decisions in respect to equipment and cleanliness of facility.

Ability to plan, organize, delegate, and communicate with staff.

Knowledge of general maintenance and housekeeping principles.


Equipment: 

Ability to operate for housekeeping: computer, telephone, washer, dryer, mop, broom, dust mop, buffer, vacuum cleaner, laundry and housekeeping carts, calculator.

Ability to operate and maintain for maintenance: voltmeter, saws, hand tools, drills, generator, air handlers, boilers, water heaters, appliances.


Physical Requirements: This position requires 

Sits and walks throughout work day. Stooping and climbing in inspecting and directing work. Handling and manipulating office equipment and material. Bending and reaching when performing duties. Talking and hearing for frequent communication with staff and others. Ability to operate computers. Works inside or outside. May be required to work long hours in emergencies.
