The Certified Nursing Assistant is responsible for performing various clinical and non-clinical patient care services for the Wound Care Center. Functions typically include assisting the Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)/Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) in preparing patients for the examination, gathering and reporting patient data, and cleaning unit equipment and areas. These tasks are accomplished according to the policies, procedures and guidelines of the Center.
All Healogics employees must perform their job responsibilities according to all Healogics policies, Hospital policies, as well as to accrediting organizations, federal and state regulation, and to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) guidelines, as applicable.
Essential Functions/Responsibilities:
- Coordinates the delivery of the patient’s service prior to, during and after their visit/examination with the RN or LPN/LVN. This includes assisting patients with mobility, transfers, positioning, and correct application of orthosis/prosthesis, use of adaptive devices, etc.
- Dresses patient wounds as delegated by the RN
- Assist in vein clinic as assigned after Healogics Vein Clinic training completed
- Assists the RN or LPN/LVN during the intake/discharge process:
- Collecting, recording and reporting data that includes vitals, Temperature, Pulse and Respiration (TPR), Blood Pressure (BP) and blood sugar readings
- Taking wound photography and measurement
- Tracking the observed responses to treatment
- Recording care given as observed responses to treatment, including participation in wound care/Hyperbaric plan
- Reporting unusual observations or changes in patient condition/behaviour,
- Collecting specimens as requested
- Completes unit tasks such as cleaning exam areas, cleaning hyperbaric gurneys and chambers, sterile instrument processing, and other unit tasks as assigned.
- Performs Hyperbaric Oxygen (HBO) therapy related duties as needed, upon the completion of the required Healogics Hyperbaric training.
- Performs other duties as required.
Required Education, Experience and Credentials:
- High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED)
- Current Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification - to be maintained throughout the duration of employment in the position
- Six (6) or more months experience in an acute hospital, rehabilitation hospital, or skilled nursing unit preferred
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Demonstrated competency in Basic Life Support (BLS)
- Demonstrated organization, prioritization and time-management skills
- Strong interpersonal, listening, as well as oral and written communication skills
- Customer service skills and follow-up skills
- Ability to multi-task and to work in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to work with others and in a team environment
- Problem solving skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)

- Being in a stationary position for extended periods of time (4 hours or more)
