About the role

 

Overview

 

Leads teams in Sustaining Engineering, New Process Introduction (NPI), Advanced Testing Development, Automation, Material Science, and Machine Shop to ensure that the company’s goals are met with respect to continuity of supply, reduction in cost, and overall improvement process robustness. 

 

What you’ll do:

 

  • Lead, coach, and develop a large team of technical and managerial staff to ensure that we retain and develop the best talent. 
  • Develop and achieve budget for cost centers that relate to areas of responsibility.  This includes cost center expenses as well as the majority of capital investments for operations. 
  • Develop and execute strategic plans that will drive continuous operational efficiency, improved process effectiveness, decreased costs, improved yields, and sustained business continuity.
  • Participate in Reliability, CAPA, Product and Project strategy steering committees to ensure that the business is properly prioritizing and executing projects that are strategically critical in nature.
  • In leading the NPI function, partner closely with R&D and Manufacturing to transfer new product from R&D with world class manufacturability and built-in quality.  This responsibility involves development of manufacturing lines, equipment selection and qualification, developing assembly and test procedures.
  • Drive cost reduction projects that may include insourcing, outsourcing, changing vendors/materials/equipment, modifying internal or external processes, etc.
  • Ensuring equipment uptime requirements are met, preventative maintenance is completed, and plans are in place to prevent and recover from unexpected downtime of equipment.
  • Lead Sustainment Engineering projects which drive improved product reliability, reduced costs, and supply continuity.
  • Manages a team of project managers that deliver transformative solutions to business needs including greenfield projects, SAP/MES implementation, regulatory compliance (EUMDR), business continuity, as well as global product launch.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

 

Travelling Requirement: approximately 10%

 

 

 

What you bring to the team:

 

 

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering

Nice to Have

  • Master’s Degree in Engineering and/or MBA

 

 

Further Education

  • Lean Six Sigma Black Belt

 

 

Work Experience

  • Experience leading technical teams in a regulated manufacturing environment. 
  • Med Device strongly preferred.  10+ years of experience in engineering and manufacturing with strong leadership track record

Nice to Have

  • Class 3 medical device engineering leadership experience.
