Visiting Assistant Professor of Computer Science

The Department of Mathematics and Computer Science at Wagner College invites applications for a one year visiting assistant professor in Computer Science to begin fall 2025. This position provides full-time benefits and renewable for up to 3 years. The minimum requirement is a MS degree or an ABD status in a PhD program in Computer Science or a closely related field. The ideal candidate needs to demonstrate a commitment to excellence in teaching. In addition, the applicants must have outstanding communication skills. Preference will be given to the applicants with strong programming skills and the ability to contribute to the department's curriculum. 

The teaching load follows the College’s policy and currently it is 3/3. In addition to teaching current and anticipated courses in the departmental majors/minors, the candidate may teach Computer Science in a concentrated multidisciplinary undergraduate general educational program. 

Review of candidates will begin in January 2025, and will continue until the position is filled.  All application materials must be submitted as a single pdf or word document to include (1) a letter of interest, (2) a curriculum vitae, (3) contact information for three recommenders, (4) a teaching statement (2 pages maximum). This statement should address DEI and include a brief teaching philosophy, classes taught, and examples of pedagogical techniques used.

Additional Information
In compliance with NYC’s Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary for this position is $65,000 - $70,000. Additional stipends are available for extra responsibilities in teaching and service. Wagner College considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an offer.
