What’s the role?
We are looking for a Senior Manager to identify and mitigate risk and fraud on the platform. If you are passionate about pattern-recognition, noting trends and building solutions for risk prevention, this is an exciting opportunity for you!
As a Senior Manager, Controls and Detection, you will proactively identify and assist in the remediation of risky trends by building controls with your team. This is a full-time position reporting to the Director, Risk & Fraud Policy, Programs & Controls and the base salary range will be 139,000.00 - 181,000.00 USD per year. In addition to salary, you will also be eligible for an equity package, an annual performance bonus, and our competitive benefits that support you and your family as part of your total rewards package at Etsy.

What does the day-to-day look like?
- Lead a team of analysts who will create and maintain rules in our internal control interfaces - driving key KPIs including time to detection and minimizing financial loss
- Build processes to review, validate, and provide estimated precision and value rates for proposed controls, collaborating with Product, Engineering, Analytics, and Operations.
- Responsible for control tuning needs based on emerging data trends or changes in Etsy policies or products
- Provide trend feedback to the internal teams on a regular cadence and source leads from frontline teammates
- Serve as the SME in control-focused conversations as needed, including developing new areas of enforcement and covering emerging or evolving risks
- Own the strategy for tooling, governance and maintenance of Etsy’s controls program

Qualifications
Qualities that will help you thrive in this role are:
- 5-7 years of Risk & Fraud experience
- 3-5 years of experience managing people
- Proficiency with SQL, Looker as well as statistics metrics such as precision, recall, and false positive rates
- Experience with large datasets, recognizing and interpreting data trends, and using data to influence business decisions
- Experience in ecommerce or another internet-based industry
- An ability to work independently in a multidimensional and shifting environment, easily adapting to new situations and systems
- Possess excellent judgment, logical critical thinking skills, and use data-driven insights in ambiguous situations
- Bonus points if you have experience using Zendesk, Slack, and Google Suite.
