Job Title: Development Engineer (Project Engineer)

Working Pattern: Fulltime

Working location: Indianapolis, IN

As a JSF Development Engineer (Project Engineer), you will be part of a cross-functional team responsible for the delivery of the engineering IPT objectives defined by the program.  This is an exciting opportunity as you’ll be planning and executing technical projects for propulsion systems components while having responsibility for maintaining the budget and delivery schedule.

What you will be doing:

With this attractive opportunity you will get a chance to work within a cross-functional team and be responsible for the delivery objectives of engineering projects and identifies the technical and business requirements for respective projects and coordinates the tasks and resources necessary to deliver to the Program goals and objectives. These projects can include technical design packages and queries in the Production and Sustainment areas of the program as well as Improvement initiatives within Cost Reduction, Producibility, Reliability, and Weight reduction.
 

Key Accountabilities:

  • Managing project technical and schedule needs and effectively leading multi-disciplinary teams comprised of manufacturing, quality, engineering, and purchasing resources to achieve program delivery milestones

  • Executing WBS cost account management, integrated planning /scheduling, earned-value assessment, risk management and continuous improvement tasks

  • Facilitating multi-disciplinary teams and their completion of project tasks and deliverables in accordance with applicable processes, procedures and regulations

  • Leading global multi-disciplinary teams to develop and define component-based and system-level technical solutions

  • Planning and structuring complex multidisciplinary work scope for design, analysis and hardware procurement, ensuring compliance with requirements

  • Responsible for oversight of subcontractors or subcontracted LiftSystem components and the delivery of hardware and sub-systems equipment as defined by the IPTL

  • Reporting technical and business results of assigned projects

  • Effectively communicating complex technical aero-mechanical projects with program stakeholders

Basic Requirements:

  • A Bachelor’s degree with 2+ years of experience in design and/or manufacturing engineering OR;

  • A Masters degree with 0+ years of experience in design and/or manufacturing engineering OR;

  • A PhD with 0+ years of experience in design and/or manufacturing engineering

  • In order to be considered for this opportunity, you must be eligible to obtain and maintain security clearance, which requires USA Citizenship

Preferred Requirements:

  • Technical knowledge of turbo-machinery, gas turbine engines, and mechanical systems

  • Trained in project management principles, requirements management, systems engineering, and/or structured verification methods

  • Familiarity with Process Management (i.e IPPR) and Manufacturing processes (i.e. FPA, FAIR)

  • Six Sigma Green Belt certification
