Job Description
AECOM is actively seeking a highly motivated Geotechnical / Civil Engineer to join our Environmental Business Line in the Raleigh, North Carolina office, working on rewarding projects within a diverse culture, and having access to exceptional training and career development opportunities.
You will work with a diverse team of technical experts to deliver remediation services to our clients in the Power sector market and have the ability to work across business lines (e.g. Transportation) to support AECOM’s growing business. In this role, you will support the design of various solid waste disposal facilities, earthen dams, bridges, retaining walls, roadways, and other geotechnical, civil, and remediation projects.

The job responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to:
- Performs specific and moderate portions of a broader assignment of an experienced engineer
- Gathers and correlates basic engineering data using established and well-defined procedures
- Works on detailed or routine engineering assignments involving calculations and relatively simple tests
- Proposes approach to solve new problems encountered using modifications of standard procedures or methods developed in previous assignments.
- Identifies discrepancies in results
- Provides guidance to entry level engineers
- Performs work in accordance with agreed upon budget and schedule with little supervision
- Independently performs all the tasks necessary to complete primary design elements for engineering works
- Performance at this level requires developmental experience in a professional position
Qualifications
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- BA/BS plus 4 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
- Experience using one or more of the following industry standard computer software programs: Slope/W, SLIDE, AutoCAD Civil 3D, APile, LPile, GRLWEAP, and/or Settle3
- Experience performing geotechnical investigations, slope stability analyses, settlement analyses, and/or developing geotechnical recommendations for large civil and geotechnical projects
- Valid US Driver’s License and must be able to pass AECOM’s Motor Vehicle Records review
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelors or Masters Degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering is favored
- 6 years of experience in Environment and Remediation practice
- Licensed Professional Engineer in the State of North Carolina or the ability to obtain through comity
- Experience training and lead
