Job Description

The incumbent will join US Finance, Legal Entity Reporting & Controls, and oversee various NAIC Statutory financial reporting and analysis responsibilities. Reporting directly to the Director and Assistant Controller of legal entity financial reporting the candidate will work closely with our business partners in throughout the Finance and Actuarial organization. This position offers exposures to a variety of business divisions, legal entities, and functional areas.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the successful completion of various Statutory financial reporting deliverables and regulatory requirements, including board reporting, quarterly financial statement filing, and legal entity results.
  • Participate in the quarterly and annual financial statement close and reporting process including: financial statement pages, footnote preparation, flux analysis, and fulfillment of regulatory requirements and filings
  • Analyze financial results, detecting aberrations and providing commentary with respect to specific areas of focus.
  • Manage and maintains relationships with critical stakeholders outside of formal authority
  • Responsible for quarterly Model Audit Rule financial control requirements
  • Assist with internal and external audit deliverables
  • Assist with regulatory examination requests and coordination
  • Assist with department initiatives and operational improvements
  • Work on special projects and analyses, as requested
  • Mentor and provides guidance to junior team members as applicable

Experience and qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or equivalent work experience required
  • Professional accreditation, CPA or equivalent is preferred but not required
  • 5 or more years of experience in insurance or financial services environment
  • Strong financial reporting background

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Demonstrates a working knowledge of accounting rules, , life insurance regulatory environment and/or business processes as it pertains to the accountant's sphere of responsibility
  • Great teammate who possess a positive attitude and customer service focus
  • Self-starter and great teammate with a high level of initiative, strong work ethic and the ability to gather, synthesize, organize and report information
  • Demonstrates strong analytical and inquiry skills, including ability to gather data from various sources to understand issues or problems
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Diligent, well-organized, and excellent analytical skills
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines, manage several priorities, proactively investigate issues, troubleshoot, use judgement, and deliver timely and quality results
  • Effective interaction and communication skills to communicate issues to management and collaborate with colleagues
  • Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office applications and ability to learn new applications quicky.
