Front-End R&D Engineer (Bothell, WA)
Join us as an entry-level Front-End R&D Function Development Engineer to explore, build, and validate innovative technologies for consumer health devices that improve real lives. This role is ideal for curious and creative thinkers eager to learn, grow and make tangible impact from day one.
Your role:
- As a Function Development Engineer in our R&D Front-End Innovation team, you'll help define the future of consumer oral healthcare by turning scientific insights and engineering principles into real-world functions and features. You’ll work in a collaborative, cross-functional environment with experts from clinical research, user experiences, development engineering, systems engineering, and marketing to brainstorm, create value proposition, conceptualize, theorize, analyze, prototype, design, verify and validate new ideas and technologies.
- This position offers hands-on experiences with cutting-edge technologies, tools and mentorship opportunities to accelerate your development. You'll explore multidisciplinary domains — physics, biology, sensors, data, artificial intelligence, mechanics, engineering — while focusing on applying them for meaningful, consumer-centered benefits.

- No prior experience required with Bachelor's Degree OR minimum 4 years of experience with Vocational Education in areas such as System Architecture, System Design, Hardware Engineering or equivalent. A background in physics or related fields. Preferred majors include Physics, Applied Physics, Electrical Engineering, Sensor Technology, Optics, Materials Science, Biomedical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering — especially if you’re passionate about applying these in health and consumer device solutions.
- You must be able to successfully perform the following minimum Physical, Cognitive and Environmental job requirements with or without accommodation for this position.
- You are skilled in prototyping, testing, CAD, MATLAB/Python, simulation, modeling, and lab instrumentation, with interest in health-related sensor applications, signal interpretation, system-level thinking, and cross-disciplinary problem solving (e.g., physics, mechanics, electromagnetics, fluid dynamics, materials)
How we work together
We believe that we are better together than apart. For our office-based teams, this means working in-person at least 3 days per week. Onsite roles require full-time presence in the company’s facilities. Field roles are most effectively done outside of the company’s main facilities, generally at the customers’ or suppliers’ locations.

Philips Transparency Details
The pay range for this position in (Bothell, WA) is $79,000 to $127,000
