VFD Specialist - Mechanical Technologies

Our emphasis is on working closely with customers to deliver the highest quality skills, systems, and service in a timely and cost-effective manner while providing the most energy-efficient and lowest maintenance solutions.<br><br><strong>Role: </strong>Variable Frequency Drive (VFD) Specialist</p> <p>The VFD Specialist is responsible for supporting the application, sale, training on, and troubleshooting of ABB HVAC VFDs. Mechanical Technologies, along with ABB, is a market leader in HVAC VFDs, and our Drive Specialists are instrumental in maintaining that position. We are seeking a person who can act not only as a subject matter expert on ABB VFDs but also demonstrate familiarity with other related HVAC equipment and systems.<br><br><strong>Responsibilities</strong>:</p> <ul> <li>Provide over-the-phone and email troubleshooting for end-users, contractors, and the in-house service team as the primary escalation contact.</li> <li>Offer onsite troubleshooting assistance when necessary; use metering equipment for VFDs and control systems.</li> <li>Train the service team in traditional VFD start-ups and troubleshooting; maintain and provide training to owners and contractors, ranging from 30 minutes to a full day.</li> <li>Develop and support in-house demos for engineer/customer visits.</li> <li>Assist inside/outside salespeople in identifying the correct VFD for applications, and review specifications with salespeople.</li> <li>Perform harmonic calculations and promote effective mitigation strategies.</li> <li>Identify MRO VFD opportunities and support creating proactive replacement strategies with the sales team.</li> <li>Support local specifying engineers as a subject matter expert on VFDs; participate in and present at local ASHRAE chapter meetings.</li> <li>Stay knowledgeable about local rebate programs for VFDs; participate in local trade shows.</li> <li>Stay informed on industry trends and discuss HVAC and VFDs knowledgeably, including comparisons with non-ABB products.</li> </ul> <p><strong>Technical Skills</strong>:</p> <ul> <li>Strong technical knowledge of VFDs, HVAC systems, and protocols (BACnet).</li> <li>Implement and support training initiatives; communicate clearly in groups and one-on-one.</li> <li>Test and troubleshoot electrical a
