BASIC PURPOSE: The primary purpose of the Senior Staff Accountant position is to ensure licensing fees are accurately calculated and timely remitted to federal, state and local licensing authorities to ensure compliance for the Love’s Family of Companies.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Accurately calculate business license fees for jurisdictions requiring fees as a percent of gross receipts (as defined by ordinance) and take a leadership role in identifying and capturing refunds of any overpayment of fees
- Review current licensing fee calculations, communicate errors and overpayments, and provide guidance to minimize licensing liability
- Make independent decisions and recommendations regarding journal entries, reconciliations and work paper analysis.
- Work with legal, accounting and other departments as needs/opportunities arise to ensure compliance with changing licensing codes and ordinances that may effect the calculation of licensing fees
- Work with licensing staff, as needed, to ensure accuracy of licensing applications and fee payments
- Handle confidential information which would have immediate negative impact on individuals, and the company operations, performance or value if shared beyond its intended audience
- Assist with and/or implement automation efforts
- Track Key Performance Indicators and provide quarterly reports
- Other duties assigned as needed.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Education:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business
- Degree with an Accounting emphasis/focus is preferred
- MBA or CPA is a plus
- Experience:
- 5+ years relevant work experience
- Prior experience with reconciliation of record data
- GAAP accounting experience preferred

- Hard Skills: Knowledge of Microsoft Office with strong emphasis on Excel
- Soft Skills: Strong oral and verbal communication skills; ability to perform and make decisions under pressure and strict deadlines; excellent time management skills; detail oriented; ability to multitask and be a team player
- Experience with SAP is a plus
- Typical Physical Demands:
- Requires prolonged sitting, some bending and stooping.
- Possible evening/weekend work
- Occasional lifting up to 25 pounds.
- Manual dexterity sufficient to operate a computer keyboard and calculator.
- Requires normal range of hearing and vision.
