Attorney, Director – Mergers & Acquisitions and Strategic Transactions

SEI Investments Company is seeking an experienced attorney to join its Legal, Compliance, Corporate Development, and Risk Department in a Director, Mergers & Acquisitions and Strategic Transactions capacity. This role is designed for a mid-level legal professional with strong strategic transactional expertise who can deliver practical, business-oriented, effective and efficient legal services, while supporting SEI’s strategic growth initiatives. The position will work closely with the Corporate Development and Ventures teams and focus on mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, minority investments, and other strategic transactions across SEI’s global organization. This attorney will report to the Managing Director – Corporate Governance, M&A and Strategic Transactions attorney.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Support Managing Director – Corporate Governance, M&A and Strategic Transactions Attorney with respect to all aspects of domestic and international M&A, ventures, and other strategic transactions from inception to completion, including drafting and negotiating confidentiality agreements, letters of intent and term sheets, performing due diligence, drafting and negotiating definitive transaction agreements and ancillary agreements, and executing closings.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to execute M&A, ventures, and other strategic transactions, including teams in the Legal, Compliance, Corporate Development, Ventures and Risk Department, Corporate Development, Finance, Tax, Treasury, IT, and HR and Benefits, and coordinate with outside counsel.
- Demonstrate strong project management skills as this role will require that the attorney take on mixed legal and business responsibility for, and project management of, M&A, Ventures, and other strategic transactions.
- Assist with corporate governance matters for SEI’s suite of subsidiary businesses acquired through strategic transactions.
- The lawyer in this role will seek out challenging tasks and assignments, engage in frequent development discussions and is open to feedback.
Experience and Education
- Juris Doctor and bar admission in any U.S. state
- 4–6+ years of corporate/M&A experience

- Knowledge of the financial services and technology industry is a plus, but not a requirement.
