Purpose
The individual will report indirectly to the Director of the Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL) and directly to Kaitlyn Farrell Rodriguez, the educational developer who coordinates and directs Longhorns Play, an emerging arts- and theatre-based pedagogy program in the CTL. The Graduate Assistant (GA) is responsible for assisting the coordinator in the overall management, event coordination, and impact reporting for the program. Longhorns Play consists of student-centered storytelling, devised theatre, and improvisation performances for target audiences of UT instructors from all colleges and schools. The Graduate Assistant will manage administrative and clerical tasks for the program, collaborate on impact reporting, and assist with program communications both internal and external, marketing for events, and performer recruitment.
Responsibilities
- Support community outreach and communications by designing written and graphic marketing material and advertising for a Fall 2025 improvisation event and Spring 2026 Longhorns Play production.
- Support performer recruitment, selection, and onboarding processes.
- Collaboratively devise new works with Director and performers. This process may include playwriting and/or performing depending on GA’s interests and expertise.
- Co-facilitate rehearsals and attend final performance(s).
- Coordinate catering, apparel, and production elements (e.g., technology, props) for Longhorns Play productions.
- Support post-event assessment processes and provide feedback for future iterations of the program.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Experience in amateur, professional, or educational theatrical production, including in at least one of the following areas: performance, directing, playwriting, stage management, or design.
- Strong collaboration and teamwork skills.
- Excellent oral and written communication and documentation skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage time and deadline expectations.
- Current graduate student enrolled in at least 6 credit hours for Fall 2025 semester
Preferred Qualifications
- Proficiency with Drupal/basic web editing and design
- Experience with basic graphic design platforms, such as Canva, for flier or marketing material design
- Experience in event coordination or program management.
Priority consideration will be given to applicants who have more than one semester remaining of their degree at UT.
Salary Range
$20.hour
Working Conditions
Scheduled weekly hours may range between 5 and 8
Work to be performed in a typical office environment
Fall 2025 – Spring 2026 (potential for position to continue)
