Sr. Accountant (Non Profit)

Salary: $65,000 - 80,000/yearWe are seeking an experienced Senior Accountant with a strong background in non-profit accounting to join our finance team. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of non-profit financial management, including grant accounting, fund accounting, and compliance with regulatory requirements. This role will be instrumental in ensuring the financial health and integrity of the organization.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP and non-profit accounting standards.
• Manage the general ledger, including journal entries, reconciliations, and allocations.
• Oversee grant accounting, ensuring proper tracking, reporting, and compliance with grantor requirements.
• Assist in the preparation of budgets and forecasts, and monitor financial performance against budgets.
• Conduct financial analysis and provide insights to support strategic decision-making.
• Coordinate and manage annual audits and tax filings, including the preparation of necessary documentation and liaison with external auditors.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant financial regulations and standards, including IRS regulations for non-profits.
• Implement and maintain internal controls to safeguard the organization's assets.
• Mentor and guide junior accounting staff, providing training and support as needed.
• Participate in the continuous improvement of financial processes and systems.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA or equivalent certification preferred.
• Minimum of 3 years of accounting experience, with at least [Y] years in a non-profit organization.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and non-profit accounting standards.
• Proficiency with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage Intacct, or similar) and advanced Excel skills.
