At our Company's campus in Elkton, Virginia, we have an entry level position available to support and sustain our manufacturing processes. The manufacturing facility is located in the Shenandoah Valley along the Shenandoah River and the Blue Ridge Mountains a short distance from the University of Virginia and James Madison University.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to apply their enthusiasm and technical skills as a member of a multidisciplinary team supporting the operation of pharmaceutical, biopharmaceutical, and vaccine product manufacturing facilities.

Depending on interests, education, experience, and skills, successful candidates will be matched with positions across the campus and may have the opportunity to participate in developmental rotations across functional areas.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Shop floor troubleshooting support of manufacturing activities

    Providing around the clock automation support for various manufacturing projects and systems such as Programmable Logic Controllers, Distributed Control Systems and Original Equipment Manufacturer platforms.

  • Responsible for trouble-shooting challenging equipment / automation issues to improve manufacturing performance (yield, cycle time, reliability, etc.) and maintaining the automation systems in compliance with current Good Manufacturing Principles (cGMPs)

  • Providing training to operations and technical personnel

  • Working as part of a cross-functional team to support vaccine, biologic, and sterile manufacturing processes

  • Conducting technical/operational investigations and analyses and recommending corrective and preventative actions

  • Performing shift work as needed

    Learning new processes and procedures

  • Writing, reviewing, and improving procedures for operation of equipment and processes

    Contributing to process and equipment safety reviews

    Supporting other departments to win as one team

  • Embracing and establishing an empowered, diverse, and inclusive team culture

  • Develops solutions for automation problems. Oversees investigations of automation anomalies to prevent recurrence.

  • Develops and supports corrective actions associated with automation related deviations/investigations

  • Identifies and implements process/equipment improvements and manufacturing efficiencies

Required Education:

  • High School Diploma required

Required Experience:

  • Minimum of 1 year of relevant experience.

  • Candidates must have robust problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to problem-solving, with a bias towards going to see problems for oneself in the field.

  • Candidates must have ability to examine an issue from diverse perspectives (safety, compliance, maintenance, automation, equipment, process, and people) in order to best understand and resolve it.

  • Candidates must have strong desire to succeed and to help others to do the same.

  • Candidates must be enthusiastic, confident, and self-starters, with a passion for continuous learning.

  • Candidates must have strong communication skills, written and verbal.

  • Candidates are expected to work onsite.

Preferred Experience:

  • Education in mechanical, electrical or chemical engineering, computer science, integrated science, physics.

  • Strong personal motivation for coming to work for a company that saves & improves lives.

  • Interest in a diverse career at an active, dynamic manufacturing campus.

  • Relevant experience in manufacturing, military, engineering, or science.

  • Emerson DeltaV, Allen Bradley PLC, OSI-PI, SQL, and Infobatch.

  • Batch Processing and S88 standard

  • Knowledge of GAMP standard
