Job Description

As a Senior Engineer, Environmental Conformity, you will be responsible for leading environmental compliance programs that support global market access and product conformity requirements. You will serve as the technical subject matter expert for European environmental regulations, including the Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation (ESPR), Ecodesign requirements, EU RoHS exemptions, and Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) obligations. You partner closely with business units, engineering, product management, sustainability, legal, supply chain, and external stakeholders to interpret regulatory requirements, develop compliance strategies, and ensure timely implementation across Rockwell Automation products. You will report to Manager, Environmental Compliance and will work Hybrid in either of RA office located in Milwaukee, WI, Cambridge, ON or Mayfield Heights, OH.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Serve as the company subject matter expert for EU Ecodesign and ESPR requirements.
  • Monitor emerging environmental regulations and evaluate potential impacts on products, processes, and market access.
  • Interpret regulatory requirements and provide guidance to engineering, product management, and business stakeholders.
  • Develop compliance strategies and implementation plans for new environmental regulations and delegated acts.
  • Lead the EU RoHS exemption management program and associated compliance activities.
  • Coordinate supplier outreach campaigns and data collection efforts supporting exemption renewals and product compliance assessments.
  • Develop project plans, dashboards, and reporting mechanisms to monitor progress and risks.
  • Facilitate cross-functional working groups and communicate program status to stakeholders and leadership.
  • Assists in implementation and maintenance of EPR-related compliance programs covering packaging, WEEE, batteries, and related obligations.
  • Support procedural development and process documentation related to EPR requirements.
  • Partner with business units to ensure products meet applicable environmental reporting and registration obligations.
  • Integrate environmental compliance requirements into Rockwell's product development and NPI processes.
  • Participate in Product Compliance Verification (PCV) and related design reviews.
  • Develop tools, guidance documents, training materials, and compliance checklists to support product launches.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to identify and mitigate environmental compliance risks early in development.
  • Drive continuous improvement of environmental compliance procedures, workflows, and governance processes.
  • Define ownership models, compliance responsibilities, and regulatory management processes.
  • Support development of compliance metrics, reporting structures, and risk management practices.
  • Contribute to TS&C strategic initiatives and regulatory readiness programs.
  • Lead internal working groups and communicate regulatory developments across the organization.
  • Develop and deliver training programs, job aids, and awareness materials.
  • Build strong partnerships with business units, regional compliance personnel, sustainability teams, and external industry organizations.
  • Represent Rockwell Automation in discussions involving environmental regulatory requirements and compliance strategies.
