In this position…
As a Security Officer, you will provide premium, front-line security services across the district’s iconic properties. You will represent the Ford brand through exceptional customer service while maintaining a vigilant security presence. This is a uniformed, unarmed position focused on patrol, observation, and incident response.
What you'll do...
- Serve as a primary security presence and brand ambassador for the Michigan Central Station, Book Depository, and surrounding district properties
- Conduct frequent foot and/or vehicle patrols of interior and exterior areas to deter unauthorized activity and ensure site integrity
- Produce clear, concise, and highly detailed written incident reports and daily activity logs to document all security and fire-related events
- Communicate effectively via radio, phone, and in-person to provide timely and accurate updates during routine operations and emergency incidents
- Provide a high level of "Hospitality-First" customer service, assisting employees, tenants, and visitors with directions, information, and general support
- Respond as a first responder to emergency and non-emergency incidents, including medical emergencies, fire alarms, and behavioral situations
- Perform access control duties at designated posts, verifying credentials and managing visitor entry with a high degree of accuracy
- Monitor site conditions and provide detailed reports on safety hazards, maintenance issues, or security vulnerabilities to the Team Leader
- Collaborate with Ford Security Generalists and other Global Security team members to support special events, VIP visits, and district-wide initiatives
- Maintain a sharp, professional uniformed appearance and uphold Ford’s standards of excellence at all times
Schedule
- This is a 7-day-a-week operation
- Candidates must be available to work off-shifts, holidays, and weekends on a rotating basis
- Must be available for 24/7/365 emergency call-ins
You'll have...
- High School Diploma or GED
- Possess a valid Driver’s License
- One (1) to three (3) years of experience in corporate security, law enforcement, or military service
- Strong interpersonal and customer service skills with the ability to interact professionally with the public
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods and perform patrols in various weather conditions
- Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office and the ability to learn security-related software and technology
Effective oral and written communication skills for reporting and team coordination
DEMONSTRATED ABILITY TO:
- Remain calm, rational, and professional during stressful or emergency situations
- Exercise sound judgment and "de-escalation" techniques when handling behavioral issues
- Work effectively as part of a collaborative team in a fast-paced urban environment
- Administer duties with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail

- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field
- CPR/AED and First Aid certification
- Experience in a high-traffic, hospitality-focused, or multi-tenant environment
- Prior exper
