POSITION PURPOSE:

Follows and implements our innovative instruction in the classroom that is specifically designed to teach young children with learning differences.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES

1. Identifies specific goals for each child; writes and implements their individual program plan.
2. Has knowledge of early child development and can target appropriate milestones.
3. Implements curriculum activities and organizes for effective classroom instruction.
4. Uses effective classroom management and behavior strategies in the classroom.
5. Uses age appropriate materials and has a developmentally appropriate classroom environment.
6. Engineers the classroom to support students with language and learning delays.
7. Uses specific tools and technology to aid in delayed and non-verbal communication
8. Develops rapport with children and provides a nurturing and secure environment for them to learn.
9. Supervises and coaches the teacher assistant in the classroom effectively and performs the annual performance reviews.
10. Functions as the team leader for each student in the classroom.
11. Can demonstrate differentiated learning.
12. Communicates in a professional manner with parents.
13. Ensures student safety at all times by following established procedures and using common sense both on and off campus.
14. Teaches with a multisensory approach.
15. Develops a knowledge base of language and phonological development.
16. Follows all HIPPA guidelines to insure confidentiality.
17. Acts as a mandatory reporter by reporting evidence of child abuse to the Department of Human Services.
18. Collaborates with a variety of professionals, therapists, paraprofessionals and family members effectively.
19. May perform other related or non-related duties, as assigned.
20. Works closely with a certified teacher for mentorship and collaboration.
21. Lift infants, toddlers, and small children, reach over cribs, on and off of a changing table, out of specialized equipment or carry a child.
22. Be alert, observant and able to be independently in charge of small children.
23. May perform other related or non-related duties, as assigned.
