About the role

3rd Street Youth Center & Clinic is a community-based agency providing youth in the Bayview Hunters Point with medical and behavioral health services that encourage them to make decisions that support their health, safety, and development. 3rd Street Youth Center & Clinic also manages a number of successful Transitional Age Youth (TAY) housing stabilization programs and one of the city's few Youth Access Points.


Reporting to the Chief Program Officer, the Director of Health and Youth Development will be responsible for the operational success of 3rd Street Youth Center & Clinic Youth Development Programs, ensuring seamless team management and development, program delivery, and quality control and evaluation. The Director of Health and Youth Development will manage a growing team of program staff. The Director of Health and Youth Development will be the key external face of 3rd Street Youth Center & Clinic's programming in the community.


Responsibilities:

Team Management and Development:

● Oversee all programs as well as supervise the Assistant Director of Health and Youth Development and program staff

● Foster a culture of accountability overseeing both individual performance and organizational standards, while providing supportive coaching and feedback through weekly team meetings and 1:1 supervision

● Lead full-cycle recruitment, including hiring decisions, and oversee comprehensive training and orientation programs for all new staff to ensure successful onboarding and integration

● Develop and implement a comprehensive assessment system to evaluate staff skills, experience levels, and professional development needs on an ongoing basis

● Design and implement a strategic professional development program that addresses identified employee experience and skill gaps, with clear pathways for growth

● Collaborate with staff to establish objective, measurable performance standards across all sites to ensure consistent and high-quality evaluation processes and meaningful goal-setting for all employees


Program Operational Management:

● Establish consistent, objective program performance standards of accountability

● Co-develop youth development programs and curriculum with staff

● Co-develop and manage budgets

● Work with the CPO and finance team to manage budgetary goals, and develop data-driven

recommendations

● Manage and submit program reports and data to meet fiscal responsibilities

● Report detailed status updates to leadership, finance, development and executive teams

● Oversee and support our active volunteer program, working with staff to develop and implement strategies to improve recruitment, retention, volunteer data tracking, and communication between departments and programs


Community Engagement:

● Cultivate existing relationships with vendors with the goal of ensuring sufficient space and resources and access to services

● Support outreach to local schools and community groups, and maintain partnerships around existing and future programs

● Develop and implement strategies with leadership that will maximize the synergies among program areas

● Be the lead point of contact with City and community partners, City Departments, funders for youth development and other programmatic related services.


Fiscal & Administrative responsibilities

● Manage program contracts, including assisting with contract negotiations, meeting reporting requirements and ensuring compliance and adherence to all relevant policies and procedures

● Work with program leadership and finance staff to develop and monitor budgets to ensure they are within budgetary constraints

● Work with development staff to identify and seek additional funding for organizing work, including participation in gathering data for reports, grant writing and identification of potential donors

● Foster strong relationships with City and other funders; act as a liaison between program and funders
