What you’ll do

The Director, Assembly Line is responsible for a seamless production of the Scout Motors vehicle bodies. 

Become part of an iconic brand that is set to revolutionize the electric pick-up truck & rugged SUV marketplace by achieving the following:

  • Build and lead the Assembly team
  • Develop and create an Assembly strategy in coordination with adjacent departments (e.g., Press Shop, Body Shop, Controlling, Work‐ and Plant organization, IE & Production System) in order to ensure, adjust and optimize as necessary the steering of the Assembly team in terms of technical, financial and employee development
  • Coordinate and define Assembly targets for costs, capacity, delivery reliability, personnel, program reliability, quality, material flow, QM systems, energy/environment, maintenance concepts, ergonomics, humanization, fire protection and work safety
  • Monitor and deliver on technical key performance indicators and specifications of Assembly concepts. 
  • Development and control of Assembly processes, using new technologies and interdisciplinary communication in order to increase the overall vehicle quality and the related cost reduction
  • Maintain and create an ergonomic and requirement‐oriented work environment in Assembly as well as ensuring cleanliness, environmental protection and fire protection measures and work safety. 
  • Evaluate and ensure risk management‐ and GRC processes in Assembly
  • Collaborate on the overall concept for risk management within Assembly, prepare for and ensure production ramp‐up and model changes

Location & Travel Expectations:

  • This role will be based out of the Scout Motors location in Columbia, South Carolina
  • The responsibilities of this role require daily attendance at in-person meetings and events. 
  • Applicants should expect that the role will require the ability to convene with Scout colleagues in person and travel to participate in events on behalf of the company from time to time.

  • 10+ years of professional experience in automotive production, with expertise in achieving stable production processes and in-depth knowledge of Assembly
  • 7+ years of progressive experience building and managing Assembly teams
  • Bachelor's/Master's degree in mechanical, electrical engineering, or related fields
  • Ability to develop effective partnerships and relationships and navigate organizational complexity
  • Strong technical skills in networking, hardware, and software systems
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously
