POSITION PURPOSE:
This teaching position involves instructing students in global logistics and supply chain management, connecting the functions, services, and products of an organization with other institutions around the globe. It is vital to understand the roles of logistics and supply chain management in a global economy where individuals, entrepreneurs, and organizations have access to markets across the world. This field requires critical thinking and problem-solving skills to coordinate the movement of goods and services. Knowledge of local, national, and global air, rail, and OTR operations is necessary.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- The school professional uses current District curriculum and content standards in instruction.
- The school professional plans, supports, and prepares for the teaching/learning experience.
- The school professional uses effective teaching strategies.
- The school professional applies principles of teaching/learning that enhance student achievement.
- The school professional recognizes and promotes acceptance of the individuality of each student.
- The school professional uses effective management.
- The school professional collaborates effectively with community, parents, staff, and students.
- The school professional adheres to South Carolina State law and District School Board policy as it pertains to responsibilities of school staff.
- Teach Logistics and Transportation, teach planning, management, warehousing, supply chain economics, world market analysis, business law and ethics, techniques, and development, teach about global networks, teach the vocabulary, language, and technical writing of the transportation and logistics world.
- Prepare tests, class projects and case studies; grades papers, average grades, prepare grade reports, and coordinate make-up tests and assignments.
- Prepare lesson plans, prepare lectures, and assist with development and implementation of course syllabus and curriculum.
- Select textbooks, videos, Internet activities and gather outside project materials.
- Prepare attendance reports and administer attendance policy
- Work on assigned committees, attend school-wide events, attend professional development conferences and maintain career and technical education certification, attend faculty meetings, and keep current with inventory and budget.
- Must maintain industry standards and qualifications for community colleges and develop Career Technical Student Organizations (CTSO's)
- Ability to collaborate with other Career and Technical Education instructors.
- Must have a minimum three years of verified paid work experience within the last five years in global logistics, project and supply chain management, or management experience in a transportation sector involved in moving people or product locally, nationally, and globally.
- Bachelor’s Degree minimum required.
- Must hold or be eligible to work toward and receive a South Carolina Secondary CTE Transportation, Distribution, and Logistics credential by August 1, 2021 as determined by the South Carolina Department of Education.
- The work schedule for this position is a traditional school year with occasional evening or weekend responsibilities based on the needs of the partner agencies including organizing a student organization and a local industry liaison committee.
- Have the ability and experience in working with teams. Must have experience communicating and working with colleagues and support staff on a continual basis and coordinating activities with other members/staff of an organization.
- Must be able to communicate effectively in written and oral modes.
- Computer experience including Microsoft Office suite, Project Management Software, Logistics software, as they relate to the logistics and transportation professions and the teaching profession.
