Job Description Summary
Responsible for the coordination, planning, preparation, presentation, and evaluation of classroom instruction and related activities during the day, evening, or weekend via instructional delivery formats to include face-to-face, hybrid, online, and remote. Remain current in the discipline area and continually explore teaching methods and strategies to engage learners, organize and plan instructional content that accommodates diverse learning styles, and devise appropriate assessment tools that monitor student learning outcomes. Responsible for participating in related activities to include professional development, academic advising, curriculum design. Performs all other duties as directed by the Department Chair, Division Dean, or the President or designee.
Minimum Qualifications
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Required
- Master of Science degree in Nursing.
- Specialization in Specialization in Maternal-Child and/or Pediatrics
- Active R.N. licensure or eligibility for active R.N. licensure in Maryland and District of Columbia
- Two years of teaching experience in nursing education preferred
- Experience implementing high-impact teaching practices preferred
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
- Extent and relevance of graduate educational preparation to anticipated teaching assignment
- Relevance of teaching experience to anticipated teaching assignments in classroom and clinical settings
- Relevance of non-teaching experience to anticipated teaching assignments
- Evidence of quality teaching, including faculty evaluation scores and ratings, teaching awards earned, courses designed, developed, and/or revised, etc.
- Evidence of knowledge of and experience in employing instructional methods and techniques appropriate to diverse student learning styles
- Evidence of currency in professional discipline through continuing education, professional development, and/or scholarly activity
- Evidence of ability to teach effectively within, and contribute positively to, a diverse, multi-ethnic, multi-cultural student population and campus environment
- Familiarity with philosophy and goals of Associate Degree Nursing Programs
- Pertinent experience in nursing, i.e., clinical competence, specialty, computers, and simulation technology

- Facilitate appropriate instructional activities that promote student engagement and learning.
- Evaluate student performance using assessment tools as directed by the department; inform students in a timely manner of their progress
- Create and administer assessments that monitor student progress; provide timely student feedback.
- Provide an orientation at the first- class meeting to include (as applicable) an overview of the course syllabus, an outline of course objectives, course requirements, attendance policy, grading system, textbook(s), and supplemental materials.
