Nokia Standards - Senior Staff Research Specialist

Within S&T, Nokia Standards (NSD) has a strategic objective of anticipating, shaping, and protecting future technologies and systems and ensuring appropriate standards and industry specifications are developed.

We are seeking an experienced Wireless Specialist to join our innovative team in France focused on tackling spectrum availability challenges for 6G. In this technical role, you will leverage your deep expertise in wireless communications, spectrum management, and regulatory frameworks to drive the development and deployment of next generation 6G networks.

HOW YOU WILL CONTRIBUTE AND WHAT YOU WILL LEARN

Research in Nokia Standards (NSD) comprises fundamental systematic research of an exploratory nature for developing new products and services as well as disruptive technologies superseding conventional approaches.

  • Drive innovation: by providing expert guidance on end-to-end spectrum sharing, interference management, and coexistence strategies for new 6G bands.

KEY SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

You must-have:

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in wireless communications and dynamic spectrum access (DSA).
  • Passion for advancing radio standards with significant technical leadership in standards-based research (e.g., 3GPP).
  • Strong technical background in system level simulator development and hands-on experience in using system level simulators in 3GPP standardization.
  • Knowledge of how standards influence product architecture and design choices.
  • Experience in creating patentable concepts.
  • Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong professional ethics, open communication, and ability to rectify mistakes quickly.
  • Leadership and collaborative mindset with the ability to work autonomously.
  • Ability to relocate to France (for international candidates).

You should also bring to table:

  • Experience presenting vision and technical proposals for 3GPP/O-RAN work groups
  • Significant expertise/experience for algorithms/implementations in wireless communication, MIMO/beamforming techniques, adaptive signal processing, and AI/ML applications
  • Data science expertise and familiarity with data economy (marketplaces, management), and of EU’s Data Act and AI Act.
  • Good working knowledge of software implementation and hardware for radio communication systems.
  • Excellent software development skills, including C++ and Python.
